The UK has committed to net zero carbon emissions by 2050, and we want to help here at The Plough. The plan? Taking a step back, assessing our carbon footprint, and choosing a strategy that will limit the impact on our planet. We’re proud of everything done so far, but there’s still work to be done!
Our parent company Mitchell’s & Butlers are making small, daily changes and ongoing directives that we hope will have a long-lasting impact. We’re setting our sights on:
o By 2040, achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions (Scopes 1, 2 and 3)
o Zero waste to landfill by 2030
o Reducing food waste by 50% with 2030 as the target
o We work with FareShare and redistribute surplus food to communities in need
o The electricity powering your favourite pub is 100% renewable
o A huge 96% of our operational waste is diverted from landfill
o Those of us at The Plough are founding members of the Zero Carbon Forum, and our goal is to reduce our emissions and create a Roadmap to Net Zero
